According to the Mayo Clinic, the Department of Health and Human Services recommends 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise, such as jogging, per week. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends participating in cardio exercise three to five times a week, for 20 to 60 minutes. If you are pushing yourself much beyond that, you may want to cut back on jogging and begin exercising in moderation. Depending on your goals, it might be beneficial to vary your workouts, alternating jogging with other exercises, such as cycling or swimming. Take a break from cardio every other day and try strength training two or three times a week. Working different parts of your body will relieve any extra strain you put on joints and muscles and give them a chance to rebuild between workouts.
